Sharon Cline at Rose Sharon Gardens

Sharon Cline

I’m Sharon, herbalist and grower at Rose Sharon Gardens.

Gardening started beside my mother. That early relationship with plants grew into a lasting question: how do living things support human health? It led me to medical school and twenty-eight years in medicine. It also led me into the study of medicinal plants.

I began studying herbal medicine on my own about twenty years ago and have learned from a number of teachers since then. That includes formal study with David Winston from 2020 to 2025, and ongoing field botany with Richard Mandelbaum, who I still walk plants with. That training, together with my years in medicine, now shapes how I grow and share plants — as an herbalist and nursery grower, not as a practicing clinician.

What I grow

The nursery is built around three kinds of plants, often in the same bed:

I grow in the foothills of the Appalachians in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Plants are selected and raised for this climate so they can establish in home gardens here.

Rose Sharon Gardens is small on purpose. Listings stay honest about pot size, what’s actually available, and what is still coming from seed or mother plants.

I believe the best medicine often starts in the garden.
